Taylor is Taylorin'
The first session of July was my second time working with Taylor. This session was all about celebrating the lessons life brings us through challenges, disappointment and emerging from those situations with a sense of purpose, thankfulness and true happiness.
Since our last session, Taylor has faced many adversities, and wanted a portrait session that would capture his growth, his mindset and his newfound purpose. I am incredibly proud of him, and am thankful that I can call him not only a client, but a friend.
Beneath the Surface
Many of you have seen the work Marissa and I have created in the past. Usually, it involves armor or some fantasy character. Not this time. I've noticed quite a few photographers post images or tutorials about using mylar in their work in different ways to achieve certain looks or atmosphere. Im not exactly a 'trendy' photographer, but I did want to test out a theory since it had been a long time since I have used the incredibly reflective material in my own work—more than a year actually. The first time I used it was with Bettie Rage. I used it in combination with some holographic plastic wrap to cast colorful reflections on the wall in the background. This time, I placed it overhead so that it would act as the water's surface.
Although its not perfect—I think I wrinkled it a bit too harshly—it is pretty darn close to believable. What do you think?
